When it comes to photo editing, aside from the programs on your computer, the right monitor for the task can break or enhance your work greatly.

Why? Simple, the higher the resolution afforded the more easily observable the level of detail of the image is to your eyes, catching a whole new universe of little spots you were unaware previously. Don’t think so? Just try one of these computer monitors for photo editing and going back is something you won’t consider. Check them out.

I just started using BenQ’s 27 inch 4K PhotoVue Photographer Monitor (SW271) and in my opinion, it’s the best monitor for photo editing for most photographers. This monitor is 4K so it’s high enough resolution to be able to take advantage of the high megapixel count files that are coming out of modern cameras these days. It has a high dynamic range and has 99% Adobe RGB coverage, so you get rich and accurate color.

This monitor has great color accuracy and you can really fine-tune the sharpness to your desire. As a headshot photographer, these two elements are critical and this Dell monitor delivers. Also, having such a large screen lets you zoom in to edit fine details.

But, I also enjoy taking and editing landscape and other photos and the monitor is great for these too, and generally good for all work. In terms of build quality, it is really good. You can raise or lower to your liking with ease from the bezel and the bezel is solid too, though it’d be nice if it could raise a bit more. That and the price are probably the only two negatives.

But, it has already more than paid for itself.

At 32 it’s large enough to make the additional pixels of the 4k resolution useful. The USB-C port means one-cable docking with modern Macbooks. Color gamut and dynamic range are absolutely best in class. The super thin bezels and stainless stand look great on my desk. Plus, at under $800 a working professional photographer like myself can justify getting a second one for maximum productivity!

This 24” flagship is of course an expensive one. But professional photographers would benefit from the technology of this monitor. This 4K device allows a color calibration which makes sure that the editor would see the same colors on the monitor the file really contains. The color calibration is adjusting automatically and you can even determine the calibration interval.

The best photo editing monitor is the one that has a good balance between features and price. I think the BenQ SW2700PT is that monitor that is easily overlooked, but what attracted me to this monitor is that it covers 99% of Adobe RGB color space and 100% of both sRGB and Rec. Adobe RGB color space is probably the most important thing when where talking about photo color editing. This comes with a hood, which makes it an even better value.

The BenQ has launched this product with an excellent price and panel with many good specifications such as a LED backlight with Anti-Glare at 2560 x 1440 resolution. I haven’t come across anything else that compares at this price point.
