The Best Non Gamer Laptops | Top Non Gaming Laptop Computers

You’re in the market for a laptop, but you don’t give a damn about video gaming. That’s OK. Hundreds of new laptops seem to be released every year – but the focus of innovation always seems to be pinpointed on gamers. Luckily, in a world where new laptops seem to roll off the production line every year, there’s still plenty of great non-gamer laptops to go around. What makes the best non-gamer laptop is different for every person: it could be a stunning display, iOS or Windows functionality, a touchscreen or even just looking good.

With all of these popular specifications in mind, we’ve trawled the laptop market (leaving out those beast-mode gaming machines) and reviewed as many non-gamer models as we can to figure out this list featuring our very best non-gamer laptop for every type of buyer. So, without further introduction, let’s get started on presenting our five categories of the best non-gamer laptop out there to buy.

SAMSUNG 15.6” Galaxy Book3

The Samsung 16” GalaxyBook3 Pro is hands-down our best non-gamer laptop that runs Windows. This GalaxyBook3 succeeded in reminding us why PCs are so well-loved; namely, this is a PC with impressive processing power. We won’t bore you by going through the finer points of the Intel Core i7-1360P Processor or Intel Iris Xe Graphic, or the 1TB storage built-in. But we could!

If you’re not a gamer, you’re more likely to be using your laptop for your business needs. In a world increasingly run via Zoom and Teams, the HD 1080p webcam on the GalaxyBook3 will come in handy, as will the studio-standard mic and Dolby Atmos speakers. Although, they pair beautifully with the 16:10 3K AMOLED WQXGA+ display for movie-watching too.

Pros

  • Stellar performance
  • Lightweight
  • Impressive number of ports

Cons

  • 2TB+ additional storage sold separately
  • A bit pricey

Verdict

Thin and lightweight – and actually really beautiful – the Samsung 16” GalaxyBook3 Pro is truly the best non-gamer laptop we found for PC users; it’s also possibly the best non-gamer laptop we found, period! The improvements made between the GalaxyBook3 and GalaxyBook3 Pro models are definitely felt when you’re using this model, such as the Samsung Pass fingerprint technology.

Apple 2023 MacBook Pro

The MacBook Pro is famous for a reason – and a reason why the 2023 model is so much better than previous iterations. Maybe you’re not into gaming because you prefer art, craft or design. If you’re creative-minded, the Apple 2023 MacBook Pro is purpose-built to make pro apps run lightning-fast, including Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft 365 and any other app for iOS.

If you’re not the creative type, then it’s still the best non-gamer laptop running iOS out there. Words can’t describe the difference between a regular LED or even OLED and Apple’s incredible 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display. Screen brightness is measured in nits: the brightest PC we found offered 500 less than this Macbook’s 1000+ nits.

Pros

  • The best Mac yet
  • Trademark Apple performance
  • Stunning Liquid Retina display

Cons

  • Weighty (but justified) price tag

Verdict
The Apple 2023 MacBook Pro is our best non-gamer laptop in the Mac stakes. We’ve encountered just about every MacBook ever made in the time we’ve been reviewing products. The 2023 Pro provides – for the same price point as the 2021 or 2022 – so much more: a .2 inch increase in display size, Touch ID, and all-day battery life.

2022 HP Envy 2-in-1 Laptop

People who don’t game are often computing on the go, or using their laptops for less traditional things like streaming, digital drawing or even as an online recipe book. For those off-the-wall types, we present the 2022 HP Envy 2-in-1, the latest model of our best non-gamer laptop in the tablet-computer niche.

Both a tablet and a conventional laptop, the Envy 2-in-1 genuinely offers the best of both worlds. The 10-finger multi-touch support edge-to-edge touchscreen display competes in terms of visuals with even top of the range tablets, but matches this with the laptop-level performance we know and love from HP: a speedy AMD Ryzen 5 6-core Processor, and HP Fast Charge that loads 0 to 50% charge in approximately 30 minutes.

Pros

  • All the benefits of a tablet with laptop performance
  • Gorgeous touchscreen display
  • Stylus included

Cons

  • Only 7 hours battery life (but fast charging)

Verdict

The 2022 HP Envy 2-in-1 is a tablet-style model we count as our best non-gamer laptop that doesn’t even suffer from the most common tablet-computer complaint – the stylus comes free. Moreover, if you’re into watching and not tapping, the Envy 2-in-1 comes equipped with top-quality Bang & Olufsen dual speakers.

Acer Chromebook Spin 513 Convertible

When is our best non-gamer laptop not our best non-gamer laptop? When it’s our best non-gamer Chromebook. Not (technically) a laptop, a Chromebook is a great alternative, particularly if you spend most of your time on the internet rather than downloading intensive gaming applications. Chromebooks run ChromeOS, a cloud-storage operating system that has Google built in, alongside multiple layers of security. The Acer Spin 513 Convertible Chromebook more than deserves the title of the best non-gamer laptop in this category.

Booting up in seconds, the Acer Spin 513 Convertible Chromebook facilitates almost anything that you can do on a normal laptop (and more), thanks to the millions of Android and Google Play apps it offers access to. The only limitation is how much you can get done on the go in the 13.5 hour battery life from each charge.

Pros

  • Our favourite ChromeBook
  • Micro-edge Gorilla Glass screen
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Not (technically) a laptop

Verdict

One reason why we chose to include the Acer Spin 513 Convertible Chromebook in our best non-gamer laptop list is that Chromebooks are always reasonably priced. Even the best Chromebooks (like this one) rarely exceed $500, meaning that unlike a budget laptop, you’re not buying a budget version of a potentially high-end product when you don’t want to pay thousands for a brilliant non-gamer machine. Another reason is the Acer Spin’s stunning Gorilla Glass display, which is really great.

ASUS 2023 Student Laptop

There’s many types of consumers looking for the best non-gamer laptop on a tight budget – but students are always guaranteed to be among them! The price-conscious, first-time laptop buyers, and students (or their Moms and Dads), whether they’re thinking about university, college, work or school will be more than happy with this 2023 model Student Laptop from ASUS.

Students do many of the basic things that every non-gamer wants from their laptop: word processing, looking at photos or browsing the web to name a few. The ASUS 2023 may not have the processing power of the laptops above, but we found it does way more than was needed by the K-12 students it was designed for. First-time laptop buyers (or the clumsy among us) will also appreciate the fact that it’s practically indestructible, alongside the germ-proof keyboard and TUV-certified display that protects eyes from blue light.

Pros

  • Competitive price point
  • Blue-light low emission screen
  • MIL-STD 8010H durability

Cons

  • Small display
  • Modest processing power

Verdict
We found the ASUS 2023 Student Laptop to be the best non-gamer laptop not only for people on a budget, but also for people who like to sling their laptop in a bag and forget about it till they get to work or school. It’s only 0.8” thick thanks to the fan-free 3D Vapour Chamber Cooling system. What’s more, this laptop’s MIL-STD 8010H certification means it’s US military standard for durability – and you’re probably not stronger than a ballistic missile.
