The Best Quiet Blender | Powerful Blenders That Don’t Make Noise

A train thundering through your kitchen. A lion roaring. A sonic boom. None of these can match the grating, deafening screech of the noisiest of all small appliances… (*dun-dun-dunn*) the BLENDER. A loud blender can make your kitchen feel like the centre of your own personal horror movie. For this reason, a number of quiet blenders have been developed that don’t make your kitchen sound like a deep-mine excavation site.

Even the best quiet blenders can never be completely silent – we are, after all, talking about battering ingredients into a pulp with sharp blades – but they can come pretty close. Whether you’re planning on making a pre-workout smoothie at 5AM, or trying not to wake a sleeping tiger shark while you pulse his midnight snack into chum, we’ve searched far and wide for the best quiet blender on the market. Take a look and see if you can find the best quiet blender that works for you.

Breville Super Q Blender

Classically, the best quiet blender technology involves a soundproof shield around a central blending unit. The Breville Super Q Blender changes this up. This quiet blender’s noise suppression system doesn’t involve a shield at all, instead relying on cooling, fan and motor technology unique on the blender market to dampen sound even before it’s emitted!

This results in a softly-spoken machine that’s less bulky than our other best quiet blenders, but still powerful and efficient. The Breville has a powerful 1800 Watt motor (the highest possible wattage), moving the blade tips at 186 mph to make light work of even the toughest root vegetables via 12 speed settings.

Pros

  • Quiet yet powerful
  • Less bulky without shield
  • Secure lid and pourable cup

Cons

  • Accessories (e.g VacQ) sold separately

Verdict

The Breville Super Q Blender is quiet but streamlined, and that’s what makes it our best quiet blender without a shield. It’s amazing how much such a quiet blender can do, especially when it looks like a regular (deafening) blender to the naked eye; perks include the personal blender ‘bullet’ attachment, 5 One-Touch programs, 12 speed settings and compatibility with the flavor-boosting VacQ device.

Vitamix 63019 Quiet One Commercial Blender

The Vitamix 63019 Quiet One Commercial Blender is our best quiet blender for commercial settings like small cafes, smoothie shops, bars or restaurants, but it’s also our best quiet blender for people who want professional-grade blending at home. We think this blender deserves to be known as ‘The Quiet One’, thanks to its great traditional barrier design.

The Quiet One’s aforementioned barrier uses vibration-dampening technology to ensure sound stays securely within the enclosure around the blending unit. Made to blend without annoying any customers, we think professionals and amateurs can both get the most out of the Quiet One’s 6 program buttons, 34 optimized programs, and 93 variable speeds.

Pros

  • Professional power and quality
  • Commercial standard
  • Quiet in action

Cons

  • Mighty capacity could be OTT for some
  • Professional-grade price

Verdict

Blending up smoothies to sauces to even ice-cream like a pro, the Vitamix 63019 Quiet One deserves to have a name that sounds like a badass cowboy. The Quiet One is the only quiet blender we could find in the professional-grade category that we think functions equally well at home and in a commercial setting. It might be a bit pricey, but that’s the only reason we can’t recommend everybody get their hands on one ASAP.

BLACK+DECKER PowerCrush Digital Blender with Quiet Technology

The BLACK+DECKER PowerCrush Digital Blender is our best quiet blender on a budget by far. This blender uses its signature Quiet Technology to please budget-conscious buyers who don’t like loud noise. One element that makes it so quiet is the way the 4-tip QuadPro stainless steel blending blade creates a vortex in the fluted shape of the jar. This vortex pulls ice cubes or ingredients in towards the blades, reducing any ear-splitting sounds.

We found the sound of the PowerCrush in action to be the least grating of all the cheaper quiet blenders we tried – especially when crushing ice, the noisiest of all blendable foodstuffs. In fact, all three intelligent speed functions are pleasantly muted, no matter what you chuck inside.

Pros

  • Quieter shieldless blending
  • Powerful crushing (hence the name)
  • Secure lid and pourable cup

Cons

  • Not as quiet as some premium models (like the Super Q)

Verdict

Of course, the BLACK+DECKER PowerCrush Digital Blender with Quiet Technology is not as quiet as more premium models, but it’s our best quiet blender for the price. Even frozen drinks can be made quickly and fairly quietly. It doesn’t compare to a shieldless blender like the Super Q. However, if you’re on a budget, and can stand a little more noise than a more expensive model, this is the best quiet blender for you.

Blender Buffer Noise Reduction Cover

Personal ‘bullet’ style blenders – like the Nutribullet or Magic Bullet – are a massive trend. They’ve dominated the small blender market for active people wanting to extract maximum nutrients from fruit and veg on the go. Trouble is… they can get loud.

As yet, no bullet model exists that guarantees a soothing blend. But never fear. Our best quiet blender accessory for the ‘bullet’ style is the Blender Buffer Noise Reduction Cover.  The Blender Buffer accessory is a removable shield that turns the volume down from 90 decibels (a Boeing 737 taking off) to 71 decibels (conversation in a restaurant) – eliminating any risk to hearing. How handy is that?

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Quietens the roar
  • Cheaper than a whole new blender

Cons

  • Not a whole new blender
  • Only compatible with ‘bullets’

Verdict

The Blender Buffer Noise Reduction Cover can turn any ‘bullet’ style blender into the best quiet blender it can be. It can’t silence a blender completely, but this cover is the difference between a diesel train and a quiet TV. The Blender Buffer’s marketing spiel also claims ‘even babies love it’, which we can’t vouch for, but seems legit.

Blendtec Professional 800 Blender with WildSide+ Jar

The Blendtec Professional 800 Blender with WildSide+ Jar is used and enjoyed by professionals the world over for a reason – and not only for having six programmed blend cycles and 11 touch-slider-operated speeds. The Blendtec’s soundproofing is really, really good, reducing blending to below the decibel volume of a quiet conversation.

The Blendtec has two important features to keep the noise down. Firstly, the WildStyle+ five-sided cup draws ingredients into the vortex beautifully. Secondly, the Blendtec’s blades are 80% thicker and 10x stronger than other blender blades. Their amazing chopping ability means resistance is futile for your ingredients. They’re pulp. Fruit, vegetables, dough or ice-cubes, nobody can hear them scream; especially not you. Moreover, the soup setting heats them up toasty warm via friction. Mmmm. Soup.

Pros

  • Multitude of features
  • Excellent soundproofing
  • Innovative blending

Cons

  • Quite pricey

Verdict

Professional-grade at a home-blender price, the Blendtec Professional 800 Blender with WildSide+ Jar is our overall best quiet blender. The effectiveness of the Blendtec’s shield technology reminded us why that technology has become the favorite method of quieting a blender throughout the market! This model also offers the best self-cleaning program out of every blender we tried, and the thicker blades are far safer than the traditional cutters.
