There are two main types of broadcast, analog and digital. Analog broadcasting is said to be one-to-many & digital is one-to-one.
Broadcasting began with AM and FM radio in the early 20th century, and a few decades later television broadcasting appeared. Following the launch of the Channel 4 in the UK in 1982, an increasing number of countries began to launch national television networks. More than 480 TV channels are available worldwide.
Analog broadcasting:
“Broadcasting” can also refer to one-to-many broadcasts as in the broadcasting of information over the radio, television, the internet and other mediums. Broadcasting began with AM radio and continues for transmissions of entertainment and news.
Digital broadcasting:
The term ‘digital’ in broadcast is used to describe the method of conveying information in a digital format. Digital broadcasting allows more data to be transmitted via a given spectrum space than analog broadcasting (although it can still be considered one-to-many).
