Jazz Rasool is a Researcher and Developer at the Learning Technology Research Centre (LTRC) based at Ravensbourne and has a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Masters degree in 3D Computer Modelling. His recent work has been centred on EU funded research where he has created software and processes to roadmap emerging futures in the European creative sectors of Art, Architecture, Design, Gaming, Media and e-Publishing. Jazz has also been awarded EU funding in conjunction with partners at Goldsmiths University and Kingston University in London, the result of which was him creating ‘The Collaboration Cycle’ a model and practice for effective collaboration that fosters the kinds of creativity that specifically lead to innovation amongst Creative Industry professionals.He became certified in Adult Education in 2014. Jazz has 35 years’ experience in computer programming and is a web designer as well as being the first certified graphics engineer in the UK for the Corel Graphics company. He created ‘Atmascape’, software that psychologically profiles a person to create graphical heat maps of the motivations, strengths and weaknesses in their Learning and Creativity. He has imported these Atmascape maps into the Unity 3D game engine to build 3D terrains that form the foundations of a Virtual Reality world. In this virtual world, each person can experience and travel through their ‘inner landscape’ leading to applications in improved mental health, learning, creativity and even social wellbeing.

Dr. Lewis Dartnell (www.lewisdartnell.com) is a UK Space Agency research fellow based at the University of Leicester, studying how life, and signs of its existence, might survive the intense cosmic radiation on the surface of Mars. He also holds an STFC Science in Society Fellowship, and alongside his astrobiology research writes regular science articles in newspapers and magazines, and has appeared in TV shows such as BBC Stargazing Live, Wonders of the Universe and Horizon. Mariarosaria Taddeo is Research Fellow at the at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, where she is the Deputy Director of the Digital Ethics Lab, and is Faculty Fellow at the Alan Turing Institute. Her recent work focuses mainly on the ethical analysis of cyber security practices, cyber conflicts, and ethics of data science. Her area of expertise is Philosophy and Ethics of Information, although she has worked on issues concerning Epistemology, Logic, and Philosophy of AI. Dr Taddeo has been awarded The Simon Award for Outstanding Research in Computing and Philosophy in recognition of the scholarly significance of her two articles: An Information-Based Solution for the Puzzle of Testimony and Trust (Social Epistemology, Springer) and Modelling Trust in Artificial Agents, a First Step toward the Analysis of e- Trust (Minds & Machines, Springer). She received the World Technology Award for Ethics acknowledging the originality and her research on the ethics of cyber conflicts, and the social impact of the work that she developed in this area. Since 2016, Taddeo serves as editor-in-chief of Minds & Machines (Springer) and of Philosophical Studies Series (Springer). She is also Fellow of the Council on the Future of Cybersecurity of the World Economic Forum.

Martin Strohmeier is a post-doctoral researcher in systems security in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford. His main research interests are in the area of wireless security and critical infrastructure protection. During his PhD at Oxford, he has extensively analyzed the security and privacy of wireless aviation technologies. His work predominantly focuses on developing cyber-physical approaches which can improve the security of air traffic control quickly and efficiently, for which he received several awards from the aviation and computer security communities. He is also a co-founder of the aviation research network OpenSky. Before coming to Oxford in 2012, he received his MSc degree from TU Kaiserslautern, Germany and joined Lancaster University’s InfoLab21 and Lufthansa AG as a visiting researcher.

Dr. Ansgar Koene is a Senior Research Fellow at Horizon Digital Economy Research institute, University of Nottingham and chairs the IEEE P7003 Standard for Algorithm Bias Considerations working group. Technological advances within smartphone devices are creating new innovative routes to improve monitoring, delivery and effectiveness of clinical interventions. In this talk, I will present InDEx, a smartphone app designed to reduce alcohol misuse in veterans through the application of machine learning and behavioural change theory. This combination enables us to personalise both the content of InDEx and messaging to promote healthy lifestyle changes in the armed forces community. Daniel Leightley is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the King’s Centre for Military Health Research. His research focuses on the interface between machine learning and mobile health technologies, specifically focused on diagnosis, treatment, intervention and management of physical and mental health conditions in the Armed Forces community.

Dan Weaving holds a dual role as Post-Doctoral Research fellow at Leeds Beckett University and Sports Scientist at Leeds Rhinos Rugby League club where he leads the monitoring process for the 1st team squad, with a PhD that investigates the methods of monitoring the training load in team sport athletes. Dan continues publishes articles in this area which underpins his applied practice. His main focus is understanding how best to filter and analyse the multiple data sources They collect across sports performance to assist the understanding of the demands faced by athletes and their relationship to outcomes such as injury and changes in ‘fitness’. This helps to inform the journey that such data takes from collection through to feedback to decision-makers at the club.

She is also a Lecturer in Management at St Hugh’s College, Oxford. Previously, she was a Teaching Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science’s Department of Media and Communications and an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University. Prior to taking up her current role, Gillian was previously the Eni Research Fellow at the Oxford University Centre for Corporate Reputation. Her postdoctoral research focuses on social strategy and influencer engagement, digital branding, and online reputation formation and management. She is the recipient of a Marketing Science Institute research grant and sits on the editorial board for the Journal of Professional Communication. Gillian’s research has been published in The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times and Newsweek. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Arts from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. She previously worked as a publicist at a global media relations firm in Toronto.

Anders Sandberg is a Swedish computer scientist and transhumanist. Born in 1972, he obtained an MSc in computer science in 1997 and a PhD in computer science in 2003. Wikipedia and his page at the FHI say he has a PhD in computational neuroscience, though. He was part of the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and now is a Research Fellow at the Future of Humanity Institute in Oxford. His doctoral thesis was on Bayesian Attractor Neural Network Models of Memory, and his Masters’ on Gesture Recognition Using Neural Networks. Anders has a background in computational neuroscience and mathematical modelling, but for more than a decade has worked in the philosophy faculty of University of Oxford doing research on topics such as the ethics and social impact of human enhancement, emerging technology, global catastrophic and existential risks, applied epistemology, and analysing the far future. His research is extremely interdisciplinary, often combines hard science with philosophy, uses quantitative methods to understand qualitative issues, and typically deals with under-researched topics. He enjoys academic outreach and policy impact. He often gives academic and public lectures and panels on his research, science or philosophy. He often gets media requests to comment on issues related to emerging issues involving new technology, the future, risk and ethics. He is also a member in a number of advisory boards.
